The Ian & Shirley Norman Foundation is providing funding to support the Community Engagement Officer role at Bayley Arts. Bayley Arts is a purpose-built centre with six art studios and gallery.

Bayley Arts runs NDIS funded art programs providing opportunities for artists with disability to engage in arts communities, industry and programs. The centre also hosts public art classes, workshops and exhibitions in order to create a vibrant hub and community for the arts in our local area, alongside advocating for the incredible talents and abilities of artists with a disability.

Our Community Engagement Officer has been central to enabling us to connect meaningfully with a range of professional artists and community/industry arts groups to enhance our community connection and programs.

The artists our Community Engagement Officer has brought to the centre have:

  • Exhibited their works in a range of exhibitions
  • Attracted funding for new arts initiatives
  • Provided professional development opportunities to our support staff
  • Run workshops with artists with and without a disability to develop specific arts skills
  • Created new exhibition opportunities for artists with disability external to our centre
  • Held artist information talks
  • Enhanced Bayley Arts’ profile in the community and arts circles.

Background and Purpose

Bayley House is located in Bayside Melbourne, specialising in enabling individuals with an intellectual disability to live a full, rich and rewarding life.

We create engaging opportunities that provide adults with an intellectual disability to make the choices they need to reach their potential. We enable our clients to learn and grow, to build confidence and independence and to contribute to the wider community in a meaningful and impactful way.

We currently support over 250 people through the delivery of Day Programs, Transport, Support Co-ordination, Supported Accommodation, Short Term Accommodation and more.

As a for-purpose organisation with experience spanning over seventy years, we are passionate about supporting adults with an intellectual disability to develop their unique capabilities and reach their goals and aspirations.
