“This is more than a partnership, this is fuel for transformation. With the Foundation’s support, we’re backing young people who’ve been harmed and silenced by carceral systems and building the tools needed to lead, to thrive and to build futures rooted in dignity and self-determination.”
“Through Yung Prodigy, I’ve learned that we already have the answers, we just needed a space that believes in us. This partnership helps more of us step into our power.”
Yung Prodigy is a youth-led and youth-run organisation founded on lived experience. We focus on mobilising young people impacted by parental and kinship incarceration, addressing an invisible issue and policy gap in Australian service provision. Our vision is to liberate young people from the impacts of the carceral system, equipping them with the skills, resources and community support needed to dismantle cycles of systemic disadvantage. Ultimately, Yung Prodigy’s work fosters systemic change, creating pathways to thrive that steer away from carceral cycles. Yung Prodigy functions under a 5 Pillar Model we established, aiming to create pathways not pipelines. Our 5 Pillars include: Research, Education, Mentorship, Advocacy & Campaigns and Nourishment. By centring the voices of lived experience, we aim to dismantle intergenerational cycles of incarceration and disadvantage.
