About The Murrumbidgee Big Water

The Murrumbidgee is one of the most important agricultural regions in Australia, which is why water remains central to its future growth and success.

The area is a principal food bowl for the nation, an international exporter and has a flourishing tourism industry.

Established over a century ago to provide food and employment opportunities to new populations of Australians, the Murrumbidgee now has more than 50,000 people who proudly call this thriving region their home. Many local jobs and businesses are directly tied to businesses and industries that rely on the region’s water supply.

The region is also globally renowned for managing its precious water resources in a careful and innovative way to support the sustainable management of the Murrumbidgee, as well as the broader river system that is the Murray–Darling Basin.
